Container as content

Container as content, from my understanding, it would be utilizing the container itself to deliver the content to the audience. Using the container as a content is kind of a effective and fun way to advertise and most importantly it is very cost saving. It kind of will make you go "Oh my god it is so creative" when you see some really nicely crafted container as content designs. Here are some example I found from Google:

A bus stop turned into a fruit vending machine. It save spaces and really give the opportunity for those who are in a rush to get some vitamins.

A tilted billboard. It doesn't need very complicated copywrite because once you see it, you will understand the message it is trying to to deliver.

A wall with seats and tv which kind save the space.

My Navigational Sign

After few days of hard work, here I present you my final design of my navigational design for the recreational park.

I draw my inspiration from the tree trunk and I think this will definitely suitable to be placed in the recreational park. I used the silhouette of a tree trunk but take away the organic feel from it and give it a more modern and minimalistic feel to it with those rough edges.

This is the mock up I did within 3 days and I am kind of happy with the outcome because it looks very similar to what I did on screen.

Research on Navigational Design

Before I starting brain storming for my directory, I need so references to give a rough idea on what are the Do and Don't when creating a directory. These are some directories that I filter out since it is impossible for me to put every images I found because if I do so it will definitely be a very long post. So here we go.

I like this directory because it is not that kind of typical directory that we see in building or at a park. Although it is different but it may cause problem to people because it is kind of all over the place.

Anther directory that I found which is for a park and I am doing a directory for a park too so this could be my reference.

A very dull and boring directory which has no design or personality at all and I guess I will not go into this path and will try to create something fresh and creative.

A very glamorous design which I guess its for a hotel but it is still the same old stereotypical directory which i guess i will try to avoid because I don't want to be consider as a stereotypical designer.

So after seeing these references, I have a rough idea on what I will be doing and stay tuned.

Navigational Design

This is the directory inside Sungei Wang which will leads you to the Monorail. The design of the directory wasn't too complicated, it is just simple but yet still informational and able to lead people to the places stated. These 3 photos was taken accordingly but they seems to not have the same style in term of design. For example, the second photo shows that the directory was pasted on the edge of the ceiling and I nearly missed it as it is too small and irrelevant looking unlike the directories shown in the first photo and the third photo. If I am not familiar with that place, I will surely missed the second directory and lost my way to the Monorail because the second directory is not eye catching enough. Besides, the second directory doesn't have the symbol that appears on the first directory which may be a little bit confusing for those who are not familiar with Sungei Wang. In my opinion, the design of all the directories in a building should share the same style to look uniformed and organized. Different designs of the directories make the shopping mall looks unprofessional and messy looking.
