What brand should I choose for assignment 2

Its time for assignment 2! Its time for me to crack my head too!
What brand am I going to choose? There are so many different fields for me to choose from.
Finally I decided to go with something that we all know and almost every child has played before : Monopoly.
I researched a little bit about Monopoly and here it is:

Monopoly is a board game published by Parker Brothers, a subsidiary of Hasbro. The game is named after the economic concept of monopoly, the domination of a market by a single entity.
The Monopoly game board consists of forty spaces containing twenty-eight properties (twenty-two colored streets, four railroads and two utilities), three Chance spaces, three Community Chest spaces, a Luxury Tax space, an Income Tax space, and the four corner squares: GO, (In) Jail/Just Visiting, Free Parking, and Go to Jail.

Here are some information from Wikipedia and I am sure my exhibition booth will be very playful and interesting!

Creative Buildings

I have posted some billboards and ads that I think are interesting and can maybe somehow stimulate our creative cells (I hope). Now I am going to share some very fascinating weird special creative you name it building around the world.

A house in Japan which does not look like normal house but this idea kind of being done all around the world.

The basket building in the United States. If the interior could be fruits or vegetables that would be better.

The Kansas City Library which looks like a stack of books. These books are said to best represent Kansas City.

A building of piano and violin in China. A very nice building, if I were to visit China 1 day, I will definitely go visit this building.

Interesting Billboard

Billboards are one of the most effective advertising medium and one of the most playful one out there. Here are some of my proofs.

Having pimples on your face? use the billboard to cover your face up.

A personal cleaner to clean up your pores by Pond's. Very cute billboard.

This billboard cannot be any more simple but the message is being delivered.

I have seen this years ago but till now I still think the idea is beyond brilliant.

These creative billboard all have 1 common thing which is they all use their container as content. SEE, I used what I learnt.

Minimalistic Ads

We (Media Innovation students) deal with advertising a lot and mostly, we are advise by lecturer to do things in a complicated way because we are still student trying to get better result, simple things wouldn't get us higher marks. But I am more towards the simplicity side and it is not because I am lazy but i tend to think that if an idea can be delivered by using simple image, then thats a really good idea. Here are some ads that I found simple but still interesting.

Some paper eggs and bacon and you get the idea of how important the product is.

A very simple way to tell you, "Hey, its ladies night" and I bet you laughed.

Just a stack of lego and a shadow and you were sold by the idea.

French fries in some order and you get the idea. Simple as A B C.

This is the most minimal ads I found. It is literally nothing on it but you still get the idea. Very brilliant.

Murphy's Law in Design

Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
How true is that?

A few experience of my definitely show that this is very true.
1. Printing shop not open on the day of submission.
2. Lost my pendrive which contain all my files.
3. RAIN!
4. Late for presentation and the door has been locked by the lecturers
5. Mount my artwork upside down.
6. Submit the wrong cd to lecturer.
7. The list never ends...

I think why most of these thing will happen is because my carelessness and my very poor time management. Murphy's Law simply can be applied to every single human being on earth since everybody do make mistakes. We are not that perfect after all.

Container as content

Container as content, from my understanding, it would be utilizing the container itself to deliver the content to the audience. Using the container as a content is kind of a effective and fun way to advertise and most importantly it is very cost saving. It kind of will make you go "Oh my god it is so creative" when you see some really nicely crafted container as content designs. Here are some example I found from Google:

A bus stop turned into a fruit vending machine. It save spaces and really give the opportunity for those who are in a rush to get some vitamins.

A tilted billboard. It doesn't need very complicated copywrite because once you see it, you will understand the message it is trying to to deliver.

A wall with seats and tv which kind save the space.

My Navigational Sign

After few days of hard work, here I present you my final design of my navigational design for the recreational park.

I draw my inspiration from the tree trunk and I think this will definitely suitable to be placed in the recreational park. I used the silhouette of a tree trunk but take away the organic feel from it and give it a more modern and minimalistic feel to it with those rough edges.

This is the mock up I did within 3 days and I am kind of happy with the outcome because it looks very similar to what I did on screen.
